Ventrilo volume normalization

Post  Bracak Mant on Tue Sep 22, 2009 1:29 pm

Seems many are having problems with Vent and the people with different output volume, so I'm posting this easy guide for normalizing the volume. What it does is making everyone have about the same volume, instead having someone really loud and other really silent. This way you don't have to fiddle with the individual amplification and also get protected from random loud Vent sounds/harrasment.

* Go to Setup -> Voice interleaf
* enable Use Direct Sound
* Select the SFX Button
* Select Compressor and click Add.
* Under Compressor Properties use the following settings:
Gain = Adjust for how loud you want people to be. (I use 15)
Attack = 0.01
Release = Around 500
Threshold = Around -30
Ratio = 100
Pre delay = 4.0
* Done!
You can try to fiddle with the numbers, but those are quite ok settings.

I second that. I have been messing with peoples individual volumes ever since i started using vent. What a total pain in the ass. Excellent info Bracak, thanks a million~!
